Our Story

The Raintree Wellness Spa opened in 2004 in historic Steveston, in South Richmond. The design is based on owner Barbara Bell's experiences on the West Coast of Vancouver Island, in Tofino. A rainstorm blew over the beach as she walked it … after the storm passed, the sun came out, the sand was steaming, and everything was serene and peaceful. Barbara wanted to capture the feeling of serenity…and decided to recreate the experience as Raintree Wellness Spa.

Everything in the spa is reminiscent of a walk in a rain forest; the custom colours are natural - from warm woods, natural gray granites, fresh greens, and calming earth tones. The Westcoast theme is carried throughout the spa - from its healthy non-toxic paints and finishes - to the natural skin and body care products used at Raintree.

While Raintree Wellness Spa offers traditional spa services such as face, hand and foot care, it's signature services include the Raintree Ritual Vichy Shower, Stone Therapy Massage and the Thai Hot Herbal Compress Massage. Experienced estheticians and therapists work with guests to help them choose the treatment that best meets their needs.

Products available at Raintree Wellness Spa include natural Harnn & Thann face and body care products from Thailand; Phytomer marine-based products from France; Jane Iredale mineral makeup, Raintree specialty teas and handmade tea accessories by local artisan Margit Nelleman.

Raintree Wellness Spa is wheelchair accessible is suitable for persons with limited mobility or special health conditions.

Our Team

The Raintree Team is comprised of 12 individuals who are passionate about helping people relax, rejuvenate and restore.

With a broad range of backgrounds, including bodywork, massage therapy and esthetics, our team has studied with the best educators in the industry. Each staff member is certified in the specific healing arts and esthetic services that they provide, imparting a high level of expertise and a caring manner with every Raintree treatment.

Our Charities

At Raintree, we understand it's not just about providing spa services, it's about building communities. Since 2004, we have carefully selected philanthropic partners and supported initiatives that serve our mandate of helping people and the environment maintain optimum health.

Each partner and project is a superstar in their own space. Given the myriad of organizations that do brilliant work, we have decided to select charities that are as local as possible, so that our donations can make a positive impact close to home.

As well as continuing to support major partners that began our journey with us in 2004, we also select new initiatives to underwrite each November for the following year.
